List of Accomplishments 2023:
As we bid farewell to 2023, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all those who played a pivotal role in supporting our endeavors. Your unwavering support, coupled with the generosity of various organizations and grant providers, enabled us to achieve significant milestones throughout the year.
Building Improvement Projects:
Clarence East School Facility: Market Expansion
--- Successful completion of the S.N. Jackson Memorial Pavilion.
--- Procurement and placement of multiple loads of gravel to enhance parking facilities.
--- Improvements to the heating system
--- Joined the Farmers' Markets of Nova Scotia collaborative
Clarence Church Facility:
--- Acquisition and spreading of a load of gravel for the driveway.
--- Implementation of extensive kitchen upgrades.
--- Repainting of the west and part of the north side of the structure.
Events:
The third consecutive year of the Clarence Country Market, spanning 20 Sundays from June 25 to Nov 5, followed by a festive Christmas Market on Nov 12th. Which was the best year so far, thanks to our Market Manager, and Market Organizers!
Hosted the second North Mountain Music Concert on December 20th.
Successful organization of two Pork Suppers, one in spring and one in fall, thanks to our Event Planners and Board!
A multitude of events hosted to address Food Security, Health & Wellness, and for Senior Health in our Community, at both of our facilities, thanks to our Event Planners and Board!
Fundraising Initiatives:
Continued success of the refundable bottle collection, initiated in the Fall of 2020. Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed by leaving refundable bottles at our drop-off locations.
Continued success of the North Mountain Calendar fundraiser, with the most calendars ever sold!
Plans for 2024:
Embarking on the restoration of Clarence Church woodwork and trim, addressing its current state of disrepair and a rotted sill.
Ongoing commitment to interior repairs and renovations to enhance the facility for diverse events, including rewiring, repainting, stage lighting, and instrument procurement.
Installation of heat pumps at Clarence East School.
Exciting workshops at both facilities. including
Collaboration with the Arlington Forest Protection Society for enriching outdoor nature walks.
Plans for three Pork Suppers
Development of a comprehensive website to keep the community informed about all events and information pertaining to Clarence.
Continuing to help address food security in the local area, through the Clarence Country Market, and collaboration with other organizations in the Community.
