Community of Clarence 2024 Accomplishments
As the year comes to a close, the Community of Clarence would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported us. Your dedication has allowed us to achieve so much and strengthen our community infrastructure. Below is a list of our accomplishments for 2024:
North Mountain Meeting House (Clarence United Baptist Church)
Complete rewiring of the entire facility, including new exterior lighting.
Repainting of the remaining three exterior facades.
Repainting of the kitchen and vestry spaces.
Acquisition of a projector and screen to enhance events and presentations.
Maintenance of the bell tower to ensure its structural integrity.
Addition of a load of gravel to the driveway for repairs following a hurricane.
Replacement of rotten sill underneath sidedoor
Replacement of rotten cedar shakes on facades.
Replacement of the basement doors
Clarence East School (Clarence Community Hall)
Installation of two heat pumps (one upstairs and one downstairs) for improved heating efficiency.
Two loads of gravel were added to level and improve the driveway.
Installation of electrical wiring to the pavilion, enhancing outdoor event capabilities.
Eavestrough and rain barrel added to the pavilion.
Acquisition of raised garden beds for market enhancement
Clarence Country Market
Continued growth under the leadership of the Market Manager and staff, culminating in our biggest and most successful Christmas Market to date.
Development of a comprehensive community website featuring events, history, and important documents.
Introduction of “Clarence Bucks,” a community currency that can be used at our markets.
Acquisition of a new electronic payment system to modernize transactions.
Community and Heritage
Acquisition of carvings by the late Eugene Hamm, a cherished local artist and former Clarence resident.
Continued growth and involvement of the Clarence 4-H Club, which supported various community activities, including our traditional Pork Suppers.
Assisted with the growth of the Clarence 4-H Club, formerly the smallest club a few years ago, it is now the largest 4-H Club in the County.
Looking Ahead to 2025
Clarence Country Market Expansion: Plans to extend the market's offerings and reach.
4-H Program Development: Expanding activities and programs for the Clarence 4-H Club.
North Mountain Meeting House Restoration: Restoring or replacing the historic textured glass windows, adding two new accessibility ramps, and acquiring a pipe/electronic organ.
